Kylebrack Loughrea

The Pretender. Built by me. My local trail and constant obsession. About 13km of trail in total. Mostly singletrack. Clarenbridge with hills I think. Bit of a maze if you haven't been there. Needs some white wooden signs. This is near Loughrea.

  1. Any chance you could signpost this? I was there the other week and couldn't find the route.

    Cheers.

  4. Took a spin around this with a mate today and really enjoyed it. Some great singletrack there - easy to see the huge amount of work that went into it. You weren't lying about the slippery bridge. Its feckin lethal. Its a pity that the lower bridges are all taken down. I'd love to give the place a go on a dry day cos I was sliding all over the place today. Anyway, thanks for putting it up on the web with the detailed map. It's a welcome change from Portumna forrest park.

One thing I noticed is the amount of rubbish dumped in the forrest. Its a bloody disgrace.

  5. Must be the rubbish I reported being dumped on the bog road above Peterswell.. another nice Forest trail with a pumping (but rough) downhill near Cappard Bog..the dumpers have moved from there, as a prosecution was threatened. Its a lovely 1hr cycle or 2 hr walk, with endless extension options up to the big wind-farm, all options are loops.

  6. Thinking of going here in the next week or 2, how do the trails handle rain, much mud?

  7. Trail holds up pretty good in the rain. It,s a bit of a maze so bring map there has been a bit of felling and horses have been on a few bits. Drop a message or comment and I can join u for a spin if aim free.

  8. Hi guys. Upmost respect on the amount of work put into this. How many of you are there doing it? I started on the road South of lower bridges. I found lower bridges quiet technical but was expecting "a hilly Clarenbrige". Can't agree with your there buddy! I wouls think it is a level or two up from there.
Loved upper bridges and the track down after it. Got some great speed up and nearly even had to use the brakes! !
Think I found the start of middle section but got lost and started to follow a house trail and finally got back onto the road and skipped it.
Did the bumps! Came off and lost the courage to do the end bit!! Not up to that level yet! !
Happy to make up some signs if someone could poor them up!
    Respect again guys. Wow.

  9. Cheers for the good comments. The trail has taken a bit of a battering over the last year between horses, tree felling and not much time on my hands. The middle ground has had a bit felled so it dosnt actually connect anymore. Any wooden bridges get slippy this time of year so take care. Hopefully will get a bit of time to repair the damage done and get trails back to where they were.

  12. Hi there my name is Ian Francis I moved to loughrea 6 years ago and found myself biking in kylebrack at least once a week with my cousin. We recently decided to open up our own bit of a trail down the bottom side close to skelly shop fire road. We where making our new lines into a gully and noticed we found a very overgrown jump at the bottom, we also realised that there is a good few really old trails there as well just above the gully. https://youtu.be/rm2ngy0JYeQ I have added a link to YouTube video our trail starts at the 2 minute mark that we have cut out and a lot of work has been done since this video was taken. If you would like to meet up with us sometime when we are there again would you be able to confirm if this section is apart of your trail as we wouldnt like to interfere with your work unless we get your blessing, we don't form any part of a club just some local lads opening up some area with little disruption to the existing trails or woodland.
